Today was the day many Terrier fans were waiting for, as the final three finalists for the Hobey Baker award were announced. Two Terriers, senior defenseman Matt Gilroy and sophomore forward Colin Wilson made the Hat-Trick. Junior goaltender Brad Thiessen of Northeastern was the third finalist. This is the first time in the nine years of the Hobey Hat-Trick format that all three finalists came from the same conference. When the winner is announced on Friday, April 10, Hockey East will have its first winner since Mike Mottau of Boston College took home the award in 2000. If Gilroy or Wilson wins, Boston University will have its first winner since Chris Drury in 1998. WTBU will have coverage all weekend from Washington, D.C. beginning April 9 when the Terriers take on the Vermont Catamounts in the second semifinal game. The scheduled start is 8:30, with Terriers Today beginning 20 minutes before the first face-off. Should the first game go into overtime, we will update the website with information on when the BU-Vermont game will begin. |
